Hello my lovelies! Today we are going to tackle the ultimate Flat Earth proof that destroys the heliocentric model, completely. The great thing about this proof is that ANYONE can understand it. Let’s talk about it!

So, we have to get back to our Earth sciences. We are told that the Earth, spins at 1040 miles per hour at the equator. The further you travel away from the equator, towards the poles, the slower, you, the surface and the “Atmosphere” are actually moving. So depending on your EXACT location on the Earth, you’re moving at different speeds.

This presents ALL kinds of trouble for travel. Yep, you guessed it, already. Let’s look a bit deeper, shall we?

Let us say, for argument’s sake we want to travel 200 miles driving at 60 miles per hour, Westbound at the Equator. We are going to need our calculators, NO FEAR!

First we must find a “Closure” rate between our destination and ourselves. Closure rate is the combined speed of our forward travel plus the destination traveling towards us.

1040 miles per hour
+    60 miles per hour = 1100 miles per hour.

So now we now know the speed at which the destination and ourselves combined is. Lets pull out this handy trip calculator here:  Click link.

Our trip at the equator, driving 60 miles per hour, towards a destination would take 10 minutes and 54 seconds (Excluding headwinds, which makes travel to the West impossible). We know, however that traveling 200 miles at 60 miles per hour would actually take 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Let’s head up towards the Northern half of the United States. We will use Vsauce’s quote of “368 meters a second”, at his latitude, which converted is, 823 miles per hour.

So we want to drive Westbound, towards the same distance at this latitude, for 200 miles. The calculations are the same. First we must find a “Closure” rate between our destination and ourselves. Closure rate is the combined speed of our forward travel plus the destination traveling towards us towards the East.

823 miles per hour
+60 miles per hour = 883 miles per hour.

So now we now know the speed at which the destination and ourselves combined is. Let’s pull out this handy trip calculator here:  Click link.

Our trip, at Vsauces latitude would take 13 minutes and 35 seconds. As you can see, with basic math we know that Westbound travel towards a destination would become slower and slower the closer you got to the poles!

That’s the problem! 60 miles per hour would never and could NEVER be, just 60 mph. If you were traveling Westbound you would have to know your exact position because travel and trip times would, as you can see vary, depending on your geographical location.

You would have to account for the speed difference by increasing your forward speed towards a destination to the West, the further you moved from the equator.
